Those Three Seconds...

'You can gather knowledge from varied sources but wisdom only comes with experience.' This is one of
the best advice a fellow traveler had ever given me. Skydiving in England in the month of October.

Some say it is an experience.

Consulting lesson 1:  At times you choose some assignments. Sometimes few assignments choose you to give you an experience. Take the project anyways.

I was always passionate for adventure sports. And skydiving was definitely in my bucket list. Why would
I do skydiving at a place where the weather is moody and erratic? May be it was destined. I chose to skydive in England even after knowing that the travel from my base location (Reading) to the skydiving centre at March (this station is close to Cambridge), will burn my pants and the total cost of this mind boggling experience is way higher than I can get it in Europe or New Zealand. But the thrill of jumping from a plane from 13000 Feet above the ground, smiling at the earth while your heart beats you hard, having
philosophical discussions with your tandem trainer in mid-air, loving the parachute swirls with a mild
headache was an experience.

Consulting Lesson 2: Engage with the best in the field and learn valuable lessons throughout the
 journey.

Gary(my coach at the Skydiving centre) has done more than 12000 Dives in his life. He is humble and is
not on any social media (i.e No twitter, no FB). He is passionate about his job and wants to break the
all-UK record for the maximum number of skydives. Throughout the trip, he kept on joking that I must
remember all the tips for Tandem skydive. The free-fall is for just three seconds. Then a tiny
parachute shoots up to smooth the speed (another 20 seconds) and after sometime the large parachute explodes and takes you higher. You have to put your legs behind your coach's leg during the free fall. You have to stretch yourself upward during the fall. The most important tip was not to be nervous during the jump.Everything happens at such great speed and in a jiffy that you might do some mistake out of
nervousness.Trust me you can only value the true meaning of 'seconds' during that time.

Consulting lesson 3: Share your experience with Friends

An experience always sharpens your instincts. In a consulting assignment, after the project is over, we
report (with illustrations) and share the case study with fellow consultants. A Tandem jump is the
best way to experience the exhilaration of a skydive without any worry, as you will be securely
attached to an experienced instructor. So to have the incredible feeling, where you can play with the
clouds, feel the rush of air and savour the excitement and fear - SKYDIVE!

Life Lesson 1: If you have experienced something wonderful which has touched your heart and soul,
experience it again! As my coach Gary jested 'You never skydive once. The first time you do it when
you are young and mad. The next time you do it when you are wise and MAN!'

Meaning...

Meaning is not something that you stumble across, like the answer to a riddle or the prize in a treasure hunt. Meaning is something you build into your life. You build it out of your own past, out of your affections and loyalties, out of the experience of humankind as it is passed on to you, out of your own talent and understanding, out of the things you believe in, out of the things and people you love, out of the values for which you are willing to sacrifice something. The ingredients are all there. You are the only one who can put them together into that unique pattern that will be your life. Let it be a life that has dignity and meaning for you.

A (spry-travel) Haiku

Birds Fly and birds die
They cry and even shy
They chatter but don't lie

The Grosvenor Experiment 1.

After work, I swung by to the Grosvenor
All suited up, I loosened up the sleek tie
In gambling, there are no winning rules
Playing the game is an option you take
Don’t count the cards or the quids you make…

I looked around, the place was all glitzy
The Casino Manager invited as the waitress grinned
Some curious faces of greed and few stalking loners
Young and excited couples at the roulette table
Old but confused souls at the slot machines…

The first timers are predictable and always do the usual
They order for their beer and chat up with fellow gamblers
Multiple trips to the cash machine while they contrive with their accomplice
The Pro usually settles without any hush at the poker table
Many are seasoned eccentrics with less of variance…

The casino cash machine at times greets me with my name
The cashier has the usual smile when sometimes I encash the chips
With the maths and equations in place, rule book clear in head
I rooted down at the blackjack table close to the shuffle-master
Played against few dealers but Dmitrich is always my favourite

Against a colour, I have pulled a card on twelve
Split the tens, against an ace and still was on the race
Dealer had a four; I had to double down on my seven
Lost a game, but it takes few rounds to steady my mind
My beats stopped racing, unaffected by the short wins or the losses

Subtle temptations are put to test on a blackjack table
There are six packs rolling and seven boxes on the table
When the chips go down – I stand strong on lower cards
When my greed goes up – I have always doubled and taken side- bets
Dmitrich had advised - Focus on the game, not on the chips or the cards

Four in the morning – I went all-in, doubled side bets and walked out
‘Play the game – Don’t gamble’ was his soft quirky advice
Sometimes vibes resonate and you care less for luck
Chips will be gone and cards will change forever
But a game sharpens the character and gives you more to assimilate…

- Inspired by the Marshmallow experiment,

Stray Dots...

A pinch of raw passion
A blotting droplet of first memories
A fear that each meeting elopes the previous
And a promise for our outward smiles
Cemented with truth and few lies
And why does this picture be still afresh?
Maybe a flower bloomed in the mind's cobweb
The time we speak of asks me how I feel?
I answer that I have a morning itch on the treadmill
I walked for miles but the milieu has stood still.
